Dr. Taka Shah – Dentist

Dr. Taka Shah was raised in Edmonton where he attended the University of Alberta both for his undergraduate studies and his Doctor of Dental Surgery. He is a believer in lifelong learning and continuous growth in both his personal and professional life. He spends much of his time advancing his knowledge and skills in dentistry in order to provide his patients with the most advanced care that he possibly can. Dr. Shah’s philosophy is based on preventive care and the vital connection between oral health and one’s overall health

As a student, Dr. Shah served on the board of the SHINE Dentistry clinic, which is operated by The University of Alberta dental students, and provides free dental care to low-income and inner-city youth. He now enjoys returning as a clinical instructor, to pass on his passion and knowledge to the U of A dental students at the clinic. Professionally, Dr. Shah is a member of the Alberta Dental Association, the Canadian Dental Association, and the American Academy of Clear Aligners (AACA) study club in order to continually advance his knowledge of Invisalign and clear aligner therapy.

Away from Lumos Dental, Dr. Shah enjoys volunteering and giving back, through international dental missions, working with remote communities in countries such as Nepal and Ecuador to deliver care to underserved populations. He has spent significant time in Latin America delivering care which led to him taking time to learn Spanish, in hopes to return and spend more time in the region. As much as he can, Dr. Shah enjoys spending time in the mountains and in nature, staying active through new music in his fitness routine, and exploring the Edmonton area food scene! He is proud to call Edmonton home and have the opportunity to serve the community near where he grew up and did his studies. Dr. Shah and Lumos Dental are welcoming new patients in the Edmonton area, and look forward to meeting you!
